A Day In The Boarding

I couldn't resist the feelings of gratitude that I have for the Sister Hanna's Building that we used to say "Chister Hanna's" building. After 35 years, I decided to visit the " Dzidzernagi Pouyn".  It was a real nest for many of us. It was the only shelter at least for me. I was the fifth child of a broken family. As my elder brothers and sisters, I was witnessing the daily quarrel of my parents. I was going to sleep in tears, till I was lucky enough to be accepted as a boarding student , I was 4 years old at that time.
I never felt the absence of my parents. Sister Hanna was a real mother for me and for my boarding friends. We were around  40 students at that time. Before going to bed, she used to wash our feet and mouth, and used to wake up us for the toilet during the night.
How could I forget the bath on Saturdays? I don't remember if I had had a bath prior to being a  boarding student. Sister Hanna used to wash us one by one and after the bath used to kiss us. It was the hug of a real mother.
When I saw the Little Boys' Building, I was surprised to see the same building. Nothing was changed. I felt  guilty. During the last 35 years everything on the Earth has been changed, and the boys building was the same. Is it possible to let the new boarding students live as we did 35 years ago?
How could it be? A new mission house and the same boarding department?
With a broken heart, I rang the bell. A young man, Mr. Sebouh Boyadjian, a one time boarding student  like me, and now the responsible of the Little Boys' Building, opened the door and with a friendly smile, invited me in.
The greater surprise was waiting for me. You can't imagine how happy I was. Although the building was the same from the outside, but everything was changed from inside.
It was like a five star residence from inside.
Central heating system. New bathroom and playgrounds.
I thanked God and  all those that were supporting the expenses.
Now there are 24 boarding students between ages 4-12. There are 5 teachers to help the students, and 8 workers. Can you imagine?  a teacher for 5 students?
I had lunch and dinner with the new boarding students. Only God knows what kind of families they  come from. I prayed in my heart that they were coming from a better family than I had.
Isn't it time for us, my dear boarding mates, to help in this project?

We received this article from a one time boarding student. We would be happy if you too, can send us your recollections.
