Hello
I put a short summary together of what I have been for the last so many years here in the US.. Hope this is what you are looking for Cheers ... Diana A famous woman once said: “I’ve never sought success in order to get fame and money. It's the talent and the passion that count in success." I joined Shoreline Community College in Seattle WA in 1989. I passed the admissions test for Math and English with no difficulty. The first year college level Math and English is the same if not lower than our Evangelical School 10th grade and 11th grade classes. Passing the test meant I could skip several English and Math classes as the results determined that my skills and knowledge are beyond first year college. I spent 2.5 years in Shoreline College, where I completed an AA degree (Associates degree in Sciences). After several consulting sessions with an advisor I was ready to move to the specialized department which was the department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington (UW). Two students were accepted from Shoreline College. I was one of the two. I graduated in June of 1993 from the University of Washington with Honors and with a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. It was a difficult subject and it focused a lot on designing motors, pumps, pipelines, steam plants, water plants, waste water planters, reactors and so on. For my senior year design project we designed a steam plant and a process for reducing carbon monoxide in the air. During my last year at the UW I finished several graduate classes in materialalogy and computer electronics. I had applied to several companies for work, like CH 2 M Hill, Proctor and Gamble, Engineering firms, but I received a very exciting offer from Microsoft for a position as a test engineer.. and I accepted. Microsoft was the hottest name in the business world at the time. I worked for Microsoft for about two years as a test engineer. After 6 months on the job I was promoted to team leader of 6 other engineers. Hard work and long hours do pay off. I lead the team for Arabic Windows 3.11, and Word 2.0. Well business life is great, and pursuing a career is wonderful. At this time I had met the person who then became my husband and we started a family together and decided to move out of Washington State to the sunny state of California. and we did. At that time I started working for Teledyne Electronics Technologies as an applications engineer where my responsibilities were to work with our customers ( Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed, Honeywell, Smiths Aerospace, British Aerospace, etc..) to help design in the electronics products that Teledyne make and provide technical design and applications support. I was responsible for developing technical specifications for these products and for technical training of all of our staff. I have to be honest. It was very difficult but I learned fast. I attended night classes at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) to complete my professional engineering license (PE) in electronics and I did in one year. I also started taking night and weekend classes for management and self development. All of this lead to my promotion to manager after 2 years on the job and to manage 3 other engineers as my direct staff. This is my seventh year at Teledyne Relays. I am currently the manager of applications engineering, inside sales and strategic marketing. I have 3 departments reporting to me. My main focus is to develop new products and technologies for our company and to find new applications and markets. While focusing on my career and business development our family grew from two members to three. We have a beautiful smart happy daughter who will turn 3 years of age this coming June. During my time at Teledyne, the company supported me to complete my Masters in Business and Administration with a focus in marketing. As an engineer with an MBA I am now able to achieve higher ranking positions at my company and any other company. It has opened many doors and lots of opportunities for advancement and career development. |
