SCHOOL TRIP |
On the 1st of June 2000, early in the morning, around 5:30, the students of the Intermediate and Secondary sections gathered in the schoolyard. It was the day of the annual school trip and everybody was exited. The buses headed to Cedars via Baalbeck, with the cheerful songs of the students. The surrounding nature was fascinating. The mountains were covered with flowers of many kind and color. There was even snow on the two sides of the sides of the road. At 8:30 the students were already on the top of ‘Al Arz’. As you know, the Cedars of Lebanon are endangered. So to protect them a special committee, “The Friends of Cedars” have surrounded the small forest of cedars with walls. When we reached there the gates of the entrance were closed. Unfortunately the students watched the cedars from some meters away. The students bought some souvenirs. A group photo was taken around the trunk of the oldest living cedar.
On our way we passed through Besharri, the birthplace the birthplace of Jibran Khalil Jibran, the author of ‘ Prophet’. Around 11:00 o’clock they reached the seashore! The students lived the four seasons of the year just in a few hours! Some eager had worn their swimming suits beforehand. They directly started swimming. Meanwhile some teachers and students started to prepare the lunch, which was Kebab. Everybody was busy doing something. After the lunch, the students went back to swim. At 5 o’clock in the afternoon everybody was in the buses again. At 7:30 in the evening they reached Anjar.
The school contributed the expenses of the trip and food.
