| As a result of the new educational curriculum, arts and
crafts is being taught at almost all schools in Lebanon. At our school ,too, art has its special place. The presence of Mr. Robert Arakelian, the director, is itself causes enthusiasm among the students. They wait eagerly for the theatre sessions, where they study the important aspects of the theatre: breathing exercises, speaking on the stage, talking to public, different stage movements etc. The students also become familiar to the job done behind the stage. In this way they can become both qualified actors or actresses and qualified audiences. Those who are gifted with the natural skill of acting are granted the chance of performing in front of the public. On March9,10, and 11, in our schools "Hedwig Hall " the theatre group of our school 's elementary section performed " The King Wants to Laugh" act,a comedy written and directed by Mr. Arakelian. The music of the act was composed by Rev. Nercess Balabanian. Rev. Balabanian has served in Anjar for nine years as the pastor of the Evangelical church and as the principal of the Arm. Evangelical Sec. School. At present he is the pastor of the Evangelical church in Amanos, Beirut. On April 10 the group is invited to perform the same act at " Hagop Der Melkonian" Hall in Beirut. One week after the elementary section's performance, another act " To Whom the Stage Is Left?", written by Mr. Robert Arakelian, was performed by the participation of students of intermediate and secondary classes, teachers, parents and graduates. This unique collaboration on stage produced successful results. The group will have its performance in Cyprus on May . |
